LEGAL REGISTRATION IN THAILAND

These are the steps you will need to complete:

Visit the appropriate embassy(s) to complete an "affidavit to marry". We will advise you what documentation to bring with you, as each embassy has different requirements.
If you have previously been married, you may also need to complete an additional form to verify you are free to remarry. This may involve an additional cost.
If you have been divorced, you will need to bring your final divorce papers with you.
If you are widowed, you will need to bring your original marriage certificate and the death certificate of your previous spouse.
The completed affidavits will then be translated into Thai by an official translator.
These forms then need to be authorized by the Thai Foreign Ministry.

Tropical Homes and Weddings suggest you allow 5 working days for this documentation. The number of days it will actually take will depend on your embassy. If it takes a shorter time you will have plenty of time to explore Bangkok, or come to Samui a little earlier if your hotel can accommodate you. You can now come to Koh Samui and prepare for your wedding.

At the wedding, the local official will attend the ceremony and complete the official Marriage Certificate. You are now legally married under Thai law.
